Tem Xim Charcoal Mookata

Definitely the best mookata in Penang, with super fresh ingredients, unlimited refill of glass noodles and water spinach. Soup has a hint of natural sweetness. Owner upheld a strict and high standard of their food quality and hygiene. Price is also reasonable with good portion. Thumbs up must try if you come to Penang.

Excellent service with a lady assisting at the restaurant and guiding how to enjoy the food. Very nice for tourists, with reasonable prices. Highly recommend everyone to come and experience it

My family and I really enjoyed our dinner here on a long tiring day. The food was fresh, abundant and delicious! We loved the chicken wings and pork slices! The special sauce is very flavourful too! Many thanks to the friendly proprietress who continually checked on us and even helped to take some photos. We will be back!

Gotta love this place. Simple comfortable seating without it being too hot or too crowded. Ample space to move around, though once seated there really isn't any reason to get up. Chicken wings and chicken meat were actually rather good. And the soup.......rather good. And its pretty value for money at a very reasonable price

Loved the experience here! The service was fantastic — the lady boss was super attentive and friendly throughout. I came on a rainy evening which made the whole mookata experience extra cozy. The Thai milk tea was superb, condiments were great, and all the meat and vegetables were really fresh. Extra plus points for being dog-friendly too!

When I was hungry at 10 pm, this place was my savior. The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the art of grilling and ensuring we ate the right way. If you’re visiting Penang, you must definitely check it out!

We saw that this place had great reviews and decided to check it out on a rainy night, not knowing what to expect. Right off the bat we were welcomed, there were 4 of us so she recommended set B as well as the mooping (absolutely a must try!!!!!!!!) and chicken wings. The food was amazing!! The soup didn't have MSG, yet it was so sweet and soothing, the noodles were so delicious in the soup!!! She also recommended we mix the homemade sauce with the noodles, which was so delicious! We didn't know how to use the grill so she showed us how and consistently came to check up on us! Also GET THE THAI MILK TEA OR THAI GREEN TEA!!!! ITS SO GOOD AND THE BIG SIZE IS HUUGE! At the end we were all stuffed and we couldn't eat anymore!! The service was amazing, she made the experience feel like eating at home and she even recommended a local food centre for us to try in the morning! I would recommend everyone to try this place when in Penang!

We went to this family run restaurant on our first night in Georgetown. Whilst the restaurant was busy, they managed to seat us very quickly. We were given suggestions on what to order (two people - Set menu A, plus chicken wings, Mooping, and broccoli). They charcoal grill was brought out, along with the home-made soup which was poured around the edge of the grill. The staff then showed us how to cook everything (vegetables in the soup and meat on the grill), explaining what all the food was including the difference sauces and their level of spice. We were looked after so well and the food was absolutely delicious. We would definitely go back again.
